London’s VRU (Mayor of London) bring people across London together to better understand why violence happens and to take action to prevent it now, and in the long-term. They reached out to me as their previous visuals were quite dry and corporate, and failed to fully resonate with the communities they serve, or communicate their dynamic work to their stakeholders.
“We’ve loved working with Tara on the VRU brand refresh [...] and the team are incredibly impressed with the strategic guides she created. It really does look so great! We’re already trying to scope more opportunities for her in the wider team so hopefully she can continue working with us. It’s a testament to her skill and talent "
Before I started working with London's VRU, their visuals were quite bland, lifeless, and corporate. Their brand guidelines were incomplete and lacked professionalism.
To start the brand refresh process, I designed 2 distinct visual routes that we could take for the visual identity, comprising of different colour palettes, font systems, social media designs, and graphic elements. I designed the brand assets in line with the chosen route, and then developed a new set of brand guidelines for them.
With their new visual identity, as part of a separate project, I designed a set of strategic guides for education leaders, which included an interactive menu to facilitate navigation throughout the document.
Following on from this I then designed their 'Girls and Young Women Prevention Plan' complete with custom illustrations. This project also included creating a new twist on their overall visual identity, specifically for the Girls and Young Women unit.
London’s VRU go to use their new visual identity to be a champion and a voice for young people and communities across London. Their increased brand authority has enabled them to work with those who collectively can bring about change in London, such as councils, the NHS, public health, education, charities, communities and the police. Their strategic guides for education leaders are enabling the transformation of education in London to be more inclusive, effective, and child focussed.
